Understanding by Design

Understanding by Design (UbD) is an increasing topic of discussion within the field of education. As part of the Verona Schools strategic plan, this item has taken root to help enhance the education experience.

Understanding by Design, or UbD,...is a "framework for designing curriculum units, performance assessments, and instruction that lead your students to deep understanding of the content you teach,"[4] UbD expands on "six facets of understanding", which include students being able to explain, interpret, apply, have perspective, empathize, and have self-knowledge about a given topic.[5]

So, now when you hear about "UbD" or "Understanding by Design", you'll know exactly what this program entails.
