Unis Runs for 2nd Term on VBOE
Friday, February 26, 2010 at 1:18AM Michael Unis announced today that he will seek a second full term on the Verona Board of Education.
Unis took office on April 21st, 2009, filling the unexpired seat previously occupied by Philip Giannuario. A "full" term is a three year commitment.
A note from Unis:
I'm pleased to announce my candidacy for the 2010 School Board Elections to be held on April 20th 2010. It has been an honor to serve the Verona community this past year. I look forward to our continued success as we move into these next three years within the Verona Schools.
When I began last year I named finance and improved communication as top issues.
One the topic of finance, I joined the Finance Committee during my first term. I've worked diligently with fellow board member, Joseph Bellino, in providing sound fiscal policy and supportive oversight on the current status of our schools, as well as, the 2010-2011 school year budget.
In terms of improved communication, I am proud to say that we secured a new provider for our district website. Throughout the coming year we will see new and innovative channels of communication open between the Verona Schools and the community at large.
These are just a couple areas of progress we have made in this brief period of time. I look forward to continuing to grow together as I do my best to serve the Verona community.
