The Sunday

Tomorrow starts the week. I can't help but feel the overwhelming responsibility of teaching as Monday arrives. My job is to increase the life opportunities of children through the disciplines of Math and History. If I messed up on a paper in college, "I" got a poor grade, but if I mess up on a lesson plan the "students" are the ones losing out. Hence, the time spent planning Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Item Analysis is complete and the following standards are mastered or in need of remediation:

Mastered:

On the following questions the scholars scored an 80% or higher as a class average.

  • Fractions and Division
  • Meaning of Fractions
  • Equivalent Fractions
  • Greatest Common Factor
  • Writing Fractions as Decimals and Decimals as Fractions

Remediation:

On the following questions the scholars scored a 79% or below as a class average.

  • Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions
  • Comparing and Ordering Fractions (And Decimals)
  • Simplest Form
  • Fraction and Decimals on the Number Line

Specific Targeted Questions:

Below are the specific questions I need to target in order to ensure mastery of previously taught objectives. The Unit 9 Assessment was a total of 52 question plus an open ended response.

  •  #8, #16, #17, #18, #19, #20, #23, #24, #31, #32, #39, #47, #48

Below is a screen shot of the excel spreadsheet used to conduct the item analysis. That's 52 questions per test times 24 test, a total of 1,248 individual data point entries.
