Least Common Multiple (LCM)

Data Dashboard

  • Objective Mastery:
    • Multiple Choice: 74%
    • Open Ended: 74%

Still shy of our class goal of 80% mastery or higher, however an improvement from yesterday's lesson. Especially, in regards to the Open Ended daily exit slip question there is a significant increase in class average.

I reworked the Learning Packet this morning around 6:00AM. Based on yesterday's results the students needed additional practice time simplifying numbers and more time on task in regards to problem solving type questions. The "Writing to Explain" (Open Ended) question was moved to the "We Do" portion of the lesson in place of additional algorithm based questions. Additionally, problem solving questions were strategically placed throughout the learning packet to address spiraled skills in need of remediation as per the data collected from this past weekend's Item Analysis.

At one point in the lesson a scholar struggled to determine the Simplest Form of 36/90. When prompted to divide by a number that "feels" right the scholar responded with dividing by 2. (Additional simplification was needed and performed). The "feeling" was then tied to the Divisibility Rules in order to provide a secure foundation for the student's understanding. I found the discovery of the correct answer intriguing since the scholar was unclear about "what" to do but knew "how" to complete the task. Sometimes the "gut" feeling is hiding the right answer even if the learner may not know why.

Each day I share words of inspiration with the class. Todays...

Daily Words of Inspiration: "Inspiration is a feeling, without quantity. All of you have the ability to inspire yourself and others."
