NYC Passes LIFO Reform

During my first year as a teacher in Newark New Jersey I was laid off as part of LIFO despite my sincere commitment and proven gains in student achievement. Being informed my position is terminated due to entitlement regardless of job performance is a difficult pill to swallow. Nonetheless, I left the scholars of Room 215 with these final words; "I need you to be successful despite what others tell you or life throws at you. Never give up." And I know that if I speak to anyone of them in passing I can say "My expectations are high" and their response, "And I won't accept less". 

The passage of the LIFO reform bill is a step in the right direction.
